Built in 1923 for the founder of Zellerbach Paper Company, this opulent, Italianate style home underwent a complete remodel.
JKA and Sutro Architects reconfigured the house to four full floors connected by a sensuously curved staircase with bronze railing. New custom-finished oak floors, intricate plaster moldings, and floor-to-ceiling curtains evoke the character of Parisian old-world elegance.
A literary salon would feel at home in the living room, where a combination of European vintage and modern furnishings, golden hues, velvet, and leather foster an air of luxury and comfort.
Who shall we say is calling? Simone de Beauvoir, peut-ĂȘtre?
